text messaging

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about technology are cell phones. I remember back in the day when I had a black and white screen, snake was the only game, and my battery lasted only 4 hours. My phone did have text messaging though. I remember trying to text on that stupid thing. You had three letters to a number. You had to hit the button a certain number of times for the desired letter. I know that technology has changed, but some people still use this way of texting. I can understand now why people still hate to text on those types of phones. I believe that this type of phone is killing the phenomenon of text messaging. I have a blackberry. I don't say that to be special. I can throw out essays on that thing in no time. Blackberries come with a full computer style keyboard, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. I would never go back to texting on an "old fashioned" phone ever again. I hear people say that text messaging is useless. You should just call if you have something to say. That is a good point. The reason I like text messaging so much is how easy it is to communicate with someone. I can do homework and carry on a conversation with 1-4 people at a time. I can do a math problem, write a couple sentences, and then answer the texts I've received. I don't have to stop what I'm doing to talk to someone. Sometimes I get stuck on the phone with someone talking about nothing. That's not a bad thing, but sometimes talking on the phone is the last thing that I need to do. I can even carry on conversations with people in class. I think that everyone needs to enjoy the phenomenon of text messaging. If you don't have a querwty keyboard then you need to get one asap. Hey, chuck liddell text messages all the time, that should be reason enough. So the next time I text you, don't get mad, just text back. It's still communication, just in the 21st century.
